Working with art galleries to help children with their self-image
This was an exciting 4-month project with primary schoolchildren - helping them explore their creativity, and deal with issues of self-image.
I worked with York City Art Gallery, and Impressions Photography Gallery, and included in the project several training sessions for gallery staff, teachers, and school support staff.
The confidence and involvement of pupils shot up during the project (and remained high afterwards) and it was brilliant to see them get to grips not only with a lot of new technology, ideas, and creative exercises, but - more importantly - with their own fears, insecurities and problems about self-image.
It culminated in a performance at York City Art Gallery, and an interactive exhibition of their work at Impressions Gallery.
